Spider Lee is a dynamic artist, illustrator and indie author living and creating locally and sustainably in South Gippsland. Spider also creates images for framed art and greeting cards.
About my work
Like most spiders, I weave a range of creations. Besides teaching young children, I'm an author, artist, and illustrator. I work in watercolour, acrylics, printmaking, and collage to create bright, bold illustrations for younger readers.
I also write gripping reads for older readers; that explore friendship, peer pressure, and trust. Try 'Living Next to Dr. Death.'
I recently expanded my mixed media art to include a decorative calendar and gift card series, printed locally in Drouin using sustainable materials. Last but absolutely not least, I'm a professional artist who makes highly original hair accessories.
Is there a link between gardening and your creative practice?
You'll find a spider in every garden, doing its own special thing. Spiders are legendary creators, and that resonates with me. There'll be gazillions of spiders working away in the Creative Harvest gardens. But there'll only be one Spider Lee!
What will you show and share on the day?
I'll bring my children's books, cards, bookmarks, and hair accessories.
What's in your veggie patch?
We're pretty self-sufficient on our ten acres. We grow a wide range of fruit, veggies, herbs, and teas and keep bees and chickens.
