Margaret Trebilcott

Watercolour Painter

Margaret Trebilcott

I began painting with watercolour on a four-week tour of Italy with Margaret Cowling in 2007. This media still holds many mysteries and continues to challenge and surprise me.

About my work

I paint mainly in ‘plein air’ (outdoors). My interest in colour, atmosphere, and the romanticism of outdoor painting is inspired and influenced by J.M.W.Turner, J.J.Hilder, and Blamire Young.

Is there a link between gardening and your creative practice?

Gardens thrive in the sun and the rain, and so do I.

What will you show and share on the day?

I will be in my element painting outside.

What's in your veggie patch?

Herbs and alpine strawberries.

Veggie avatar

Any root vegetable, my feet firmly planted in the soil, and my head smiling at the sun.

Where will we find you?

I’ll be in Margaret Young’s Garden
