Soap makers, woodworkers, artists

Claire and Daniel from Seafarers are soap makers, woodworkers, artists.

About my work

As a marine biologist (Claire) and a craftsman (Daniel), we're combining our skills to create a range of handcrafted soaps, traditional woodworking, tools, hand-forged goods, and art made from plastic cleaned up from our beaches.

Seafarers look to the past to create a more sustainable future. We're focused on creating sustainable, ethical, and environmentally friendly products.

Is there a link between gardening and your creative practice?

We make our soaps from locally sourced natural ingredients, like lavender and citrus sourced from our garden and others in the community.

What will you show and share on the day?

Claire's soaps, ocean plastic mosaics, and fishing rope baskets. Daniel's handcrafted tools and metalwork. If we can make soap from plants sourced from Katy and Greg's garden, we'll also have that for sale.

What's in your veggie patch?

Currently, we're finding space for a range of seasonal veggies and greens in the small garden of our rented property. We've planted 'moveable fruit trees' ready for when we have a place of our own. We grow peas, beans, tomatoes for the community to pick when they walk past our front fence.

Daniel would be an onion because of all his layers.

Where will we find you?

We'll be at the Bates Homestead
