Fine Feathers Hobby Farmlet

This two-acre property is home to Jim and Carole Lewis and their flock of heritage-breed chickens. Eight years ago, there was a house, a shed and not much else. Now there’s a prolific orchard, food garden, and purpose-built coups for the Lewis’s fine feathered friends.

In our food garden

We have over forty fruit trees and a multitude of vines and berries that give us excellent harvests. We also grow a wide variety of tomatoes.

We bottle, freeze, and make jams and chutneys, which we share with neighbours, friends and family.

Standout sustainable practices

We use composted animal manure in our garden.

Chickens and ducks galore and two lovely Maremma guard dogs who protect our poultry.

A vine-ripened luscious Italia Pear tomato. Juicy, large, soft and enjoyable however you eat it.

There is ample street parking adjacent to the property’s 2-acre frontage. There are pathways into the property and a set of three stairs. However, you can enter the garden without using the stairs, and the orchard is flat and mown. So, wheelchair access is possible.
