Helen's Garden

Helen Genomi-Farnham loves growing food. And while her three-year-old garden is small, it's very productive. Helen's husband, Michael, builds and maintains the garden infrastructure. He has just put up a metal arch for growing pumpkins. Helen does all the planting, watering, and harvesting.

In our food garden

Tomatoes of every imaginable kind and root vegetables, including a whole bed of self-sown parsnips. They came up everywhere!

We eat almost everything we grow. But if there's more of something than we can eat, I give it to my neighbours.

Standout sustainable practices

I have two wicking beds, and I'm also trying to garden vertically. My worm farms help keep my garden soil healthy and productive.
