I sculpt because I love it. I love the feeling of the clay. I love the process, and it is a long process. I make many small works. Sometimes I like one enough to make a bigger version. By the time I finish these projects, it is like the slow unwrapping of a treasured present.
About my work
Most of my sculptures are made of fired clay or cement. I also work in other mediums like printing and painting.
You’ll find my work throughout the Baw Baw Shire. The most notable examples are the vegetable sculptures in Bourke St Park Warragul and Pat the Dog at the Yarragon Train Station.
Is there a link between gardening and your creative practice?
I like to see my sculpture outdoors in a garden environment.
What will you show and share on the day?
Plants, seeds, produce, and sculptures.
What's in your veggie patch?
Loads of deliciousness. Climbing beans are a favourite - best eaten fresh from the vine and amazing to look at as they climb over any form you wish. My prolific Hass avocado tree produces over 150 avocados a year.
Corn, because I’m so versatile, and I like to lend an ear.
