What's Happening with Creative Harvest in 2026?

Things are looking a little different for Creative Harvest 2026

Creative Harvest has grown into a cherished event on the Gippsland calendar, and we are so grateful to everyone who has supported us since 2018. This event has thrived thanks to the dedication of our incredible gardeners, creatives, stallholders, workshop presenters and of course, our 100+ volunteer base, who have generously shared their time, gardens, and knowledge with the community.

Over the years, we've heard from our community and volunteers about the need for a more sustainable way to run the event. After careful consideration, the Creative Harvest committee has decided to make a change that will allow us to recharge and come back stronger than ever.

A New Approach for 2026 (and a new event)

For Creative Harvest 2026, we will be taking a break from the usual open garden weekend. Instead, we're excited to announce a new focus on community engagement with a series of six workshops and a brand new event! A 'summer garden' theme afternoon tea, where up to 100 guests can gather and connect in a lovely country public hall setting - the beloved Yarragon Public Hall. This new approach will still celebrate our shared love of gardening and sustainability.

A Sneak Peek at Our 2026 Workshops

We're busy planning an exciting lineup of workshops for you, combining hands-on learning with our passion for growing and creating. Here's a quick look at just some of what we have planned:

  • Sourdough baking: Learn the art of baking your own delicious bread from scratch.

  • Seed propagation: Learn your heirloom from hybrid so you can select the right seeds and troubleshoot common problems for all-year-round success.

  • Grafting an avocado tree: Discover how to graft your own avocado tree to ensure a bountiful harvest - and take your own tree home!

  • Printmaking: An intimate and hands-on workshop that will introduce you to the beautiful and accessible art of drypoint etching

  • Natural bathroom products: Learn to create sustainable, homemade products using ingredients from the garden for your personal bathroom cabinet. Minty mouthwash and paraben-free deodorant, anyone?

  • Kenzan floral arranging: Explore the Japanese art of floral arrangement using a kenzan, or flower pin frog. A mindful and sustainable approach to displaying your garden blooms.

Looking Ahead to 2027

This biennial model will give us time to plan for a spectacular return of the open garden weekend in Creative Harvest 2027. We're already thinking about how we can showcase a fantastic array of gardens from across our district. If you'd like to be part of Creative Harvest 2027 (as a Gardener, creative, committee member, or volunteer) send us an email ar admin@creativeharvest.org.au
